The Centre Clinic


The Centre Clinic is a community health service for positive people and the GLBTI community, but open to all.


Visit the Centre Clinic for:

  • A health care centre where the doctors are unhurried, friendly and take your health concerns seriously;

  • Health and medical care for PLWHA;

  • HIV monitoring by experienced doctors including viral load and t-cell counts;

  • Antiretroviral treatment & advice on antiretroviral treatment without pressure;

  • Medical consultations on sexual health, general health, emotional and psychological health

  • STD testing with on-the-spot treatment and diagnosis (where appropriate);

  • HIV testing and counselling with results in one week;

  • Hepatitis testing and vaccination; and,

  • Condoms and lube for sale.

Why?


  • Because HIV health care is a part of life for positive people and should be a part of routine health care;

  • Because gay and lesbian people sometimes feel more comfortable in a gay and lesbian friendly health setting;

  • Because sexual health is no different from the rest of health and should be a part of routine health care.

 
How?


  • A medical clinic run by the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men's Health Centre as a service to the community;

  • Relies on Medicare income with all medical services and blood tests bulk billed, although vaccines and complimentary therapies are not covered by Medicare; and,

  • HIV test results only ever given in person.

You:

  • Any HIV+ gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender person who feels more at home with a gay-oriented health service;

  • Anyone else who feels comfortable with our service and likes the way we operate;

  • HIV positive people who want an expert standard of care with the convenience, friendliness, and the personal approach of a local community medical centre; and,

  • HIV+ and HIV- men and women who think everyone should get the same high quality service.
