So You’re Positive You Want To Go Back to Work

The VAC/GMHC has produced the booklet, ‘So You’re Positive You Want To Go Back to Work’, which was developed in response to the number of enquiries that the HIV Services Unit receives, in relation to the complex issue of HIV+ people returning to the workforce.

The booklet aims to provide information and choices for PLWHA within Victoria who are considering returning to work. Many PLWHA have had to leave the workforce due to illness. Some people are now experiencing improvements in their health in response to new combination therapies. Consequently, some are now considering the possibility of returning to work.

It is hoped that, by exploring options and considering the relevant issues involved in returning to work, PLWHA will have a greater understanding and ability to make an informed choice about their individual options.

Deciding to return to work is a decision which only the individual affected can make. There are services available to assist. And just because you are thinking about returning to work does not mean that you have to return to work.

We hope you find the information presented in the booklet informative and easy to use. Please note that the information presented should be used as a guide only. It is recommended that you seek advice form the relevant people or organisations to further discuss the issues, which are contained in the back of the guide.
