Welcome!
Welcome to the web-site for the Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men's Health Centre (VAC/GMHC).
Now available: HIV Tests & Treatments 2009 Edition HIV Tests and Treatments 2009, describes the currently available antiviral drugs for the treatment and management of HIV infection. It also describes some common tests used to monitor the health of people with HIV, and how these tests can be used to help you look after your health, or make decisions about starting, stopping or changing antiviral treatments.
This booklet is designed for all people with HIV, whether you have been recently diagnosed, or have known about your HIV positive status for some time. The information enclosed is designed to help you:
• understand how HIV antiviral treatments work, and what HIV drugs are currently available;
• understand the different tests which might be suggested by your doctor to help monitor your health; and
• work with your doctor to agree on the most appropriate HIV treatment and management strategy for you – whether this is with or without antiviral drugs.

Will you be one of the 10,000 men?
A new study called Myriad: The 10,000 Men Project is asking gay men what motivates them to take part in research on sex, relationships and health.
This pilot survey will help plan a large-scale online study that will follow the social and sexual lives of gay and bisexual men in Australia.
We want to know what would make the study more attractive to participants and what technical features of an online study would help them stay involved over time. So it’s your chance to have your say.
As well as finding out how many men are willing to join the project, the pilot survey will ask how much time participants are prepared to give, what type of personal information they are willing to share and which health and lifestyle issues they would like included in the full study.
Even if you are unsure or unlikely to join the full study, the researchers would like to hear from you too.
The survey can be accessed through the study website at myriad10000men
The study is a joint project of the University of New South Wales and La Trobe University.
