International day against homophobia (IDAHO)

Bringing an end to homophobia and transphobia around the world

International day against homophobia (IDAHO) was launched in 2005 to commemorate the World Health Organisation’s decision to remove homosexuality from the International Classification of Diseases (though the actual decision to remove homosexuality from the document was taken on 17 May 1990). This historic victory was a step towards recognising the human rights of GLBTI people around the world. The day has now broadened in focus to include the recognition of trans communities.

Centre Clinic accreditation

Clients of the Centre Clinic know that they receive excellent medical care and now it's official! In March, the Clinic was accredited with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

For clients accreditation means that they can be confident that regulatory requirements are met or exceeded and that we are building a culture of quality. It demonstrates that we are doing all we can to ensure our clients expectations are met.

Established in 1988 Positive Women Victoria is a state-wide organisation that supports and advocates for women living with HIV. It is the only HIV organisation in Australia which is run by women for women.

VAC/GMHC 30th Anniversary History Project — Call for Expressions of Interest

The Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men’s Health Centre is calling for expressions of interest from suitably qualified historians to write and produce a website, DVD and, subject to extra funding, a booklet to commemorate the 30th Anniversary History of the organisation in 2013.

The project must be complete and ready for a launch by July 2013.
