Angels in America
VAC/GMHC is proud to support the production of Angels in America, running from August 16 - September 1 at Chapel off Chapel.
Winner of four Tony Awards and a Pulitzer prize, this play is set in New York in the Reagan years, the very first years of reports of a then mysterious disease in gay men – AIDS.
A powerful work that is poignant, never loses its wicked sense of humour or it’s wrenching grasp on such timeless issues as life, death, sexual exploration and the awakenings that are encountered by working through life’s major tragedies and triumphs. A play with an uplifting modern edge – exploring the possibility of achieving humanity through transcendence.
Peter Kalos has directed plays such as Dreamer Examines His Pillow, Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, Loose Ends, Luv and Waiting for Godot at the 3rd Street Theatre and at the Lee Strasberg Theatre in Los Angeles.
Presented by 3 Big Men Productions, a company dedicated to exploring controversial subjects and providing a forum that encourages both learning and discussion on human issues.

Oz Showbiz Cares/Equity Fights AIDS Inc. (OSC/EFA) is an Australian registered fundraising charity.
OSC/EFA is dedicated to mobilising the unique talents within the media, entertainment and arts industries to mitigate the suffering of individuals affected by HIV.
Each year OSC/EFA supports VAC/GMHC and other HIV agencies across Victoria and Australia, through fundraising initiatives; most significantly during AIDS Awareness Week.
We are very fortunate and extremely grateful to benefit from OSC/EFA’s continued hard work, with past money raised assisting to fund activities and programs including our client retreat, the David Williams Fund, and Tuckerbag Meals Project.
Melbourne Chargers Rugby Union Football Club
In January 2011 VAC/GMHC proudly embarked upon a partnership with the Melbourne Chargers Rugby Union Football Club.
The Melbourne Chargers are Melbourne’s first gay rugby union team, who compete in the Victorian Rugby Union Second Division competition.
The Club promotes inclusion and embraces diversity, with the purpose of creating a rugby team where players and supporters feel comfortable, regardless of sexual orientation or other differences, including HIV status.
VAC/GMHC is acting as a sponsor for the Melbourne Chargers during 2011 and 2012, with the aim of strengthening links in the GLBT community, conveying key health messages, and promoting sporting and social inclusion for people living with HIV.

Uniting Care Cutting Edge
Uniting Care Cutting Edge is a frontline rural support agency in Victoria's Goulburn Valley, working to build communities, strengthen families and unlock the full potential of young people. Among other things, UCCE provides intensive case support for young people who experience homophobia or transphobia in their families, schools, workplaces and communities; and supports schools, health providers and volunteer groups to promote healthy lifestyles and foster inclusion for students who are LGBTI.
Uniting Care Cutting Edge is a valuable partner for VAC/GMHC in providing resources and information to regional areas of Victoria, and supporting our awareness and fundraising activities around World AIDS Day.
