Our vision

Building our community’s independence, dignity and wellbeing.

Statement of purpose

Leading our community in the fight against HIV/AIDS and STIs.

We work to confront the continuing challenges of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and, increasingly, the overall health and wellbeing of the GLBT community. Our core work is to:

  • Strengthen the independence, dignity, health and wellbeing of HIV positive people and the GLBT community.
  • Reduce the transmission of HIV and STIs.
  • Enhance health outcomes for people living with HIV/AIDS.

In particular we are invested in bringing the AIDS epidemic to an end.

Our service philosophy

As a community based health promoting organisation, we aim to:

  • Empower individuals and communities to manage their own health and wellbeing.
  • Be responsive to the changing needs of our communities.
  • Build supportive environments for individuals to adopt and sustain healthy behaviours.
  • Strengthen the capacity of the broader community, including government and service providers to respond to the needs of our communities.

We are committed to social justice and social change. We respect and celebrate diversity and will work to provide an enabling environment where people are able to express their individuality. Since our beginning, we have been a strategic partner of government, hospitals and other service providers. We are inspired and made more effective by the hard work and dedication of our volunteers and by the ongoing support of the communities we serve.

The strength of our service lies in the participation of our communities. They help us develop and deliver services in partnership with government, health professionals and research organisations.
