TAKE CONTROL: a course for people co-infected with HIV/HEPC
'TAKE CONTROL' is a course aimed at those people co-infected with HIV/HEPC who are seeking treatment for Hepatitis C and for those whom HepC treatment fails (possibly as high as 60% with HIV co-infection).

The aim of the course is to get participants to select one specific health aspect of their lives (eg alcohol consumption, exercise, sleep patterns etc) and take control over making health changes. Participants will also be asked to look at ‘triggers’ – what triggers off negative health behaviours and what triggers off positive ones.
Course outline:
- Diet and Exercise
- Managing fatigue and sleep
- Alcohol, cigarettes and other drugs (pros and cons)
- Managing depression, anxiety, chronic illness
- Effective goal setting – making achievable goals
- Disclosure, stigma and support networks
- Treatment, side effects, preparation for, etc
